Product Highlights
  • Deuteron® ES 222 is a synthesis product of multifunc- tional organic bases and fatty acids with chain length from C14 to C20, mainly C18. It is used as defoamer in unsaturated polyesters and leads to improved pigment wetting and substrate wetting.
  • The defoaming properties of Deuteron® ES 222 are based on deaeration and prevents formation of foam in UPE systems actively.

Application and Dosage Information

Deuteron® ES 222 is suitable in unsaturated polyester systems and especially improves performance in:

  • Wetting and dispersing additive
  • Substrate wetting
  • Deaeration in dispersing and grinding processes
  • Defoamer

Dosage

  • 0.2 to 0.4 % based on the polyester resin solution. Higher dosages are possible, but must be tested.

Processing

  • Deuteron® ES 222 can be added to the resin solution by the UPE manufacturer. To further adjust system per- formance, it is possible to add Deuteron® ES 222 at the processor’s site just before addition of the peroxides. The stirring conditions should be carefully selected so that the system is not loaded with air bubbles.
