- Product Highlights
- Deuteron® ND 210 is a wetting agent with a cationic effect. It reduces the surface tension of organic solvents or binding agent solutions and thus supports the dispersion process, making it more cost-effective. Deuteron® ND 210 also allows a more economical use of pigments since both the hiding and the coloring powers largely depend on the disper- sion conditions. The much-dreaded flooding and floating of pigments can be prevented with Deuteron® ND 210.
- The improved storage life of pigmented systems will also have to be taken into consideration, since the stabilization of the dispersing particles due to the dipol effect prevents the formation of new agglomerates and thus counteracts the possible formation of sediments.
Applications & Uses
- Coating End Applications
- Application and Dosage Information
- Deuteron® ND 210 is suitable for the production of pigmented coating materials based on oxida- tive and on physically drying binding agents. The wetting-promoting properties of Deuteron® ND 210 are particularly advantageous for the production of highly filled systems, such as pigment paste. Like- wise, the agent is also suitable for coating systems for which both of the above aspects are desirable.
Dosage
- The required quantities of Deuteron® ND 210 depend on the wetting properties of the binding agent and on the quantity of binding agent required for the relevant pigment or the combi- nation of pigments, respectively. It ranges from a minimum of 0,5 % for the usual inorganic and metal pigments to quantities of between 2 % and 5 % for organic pigments and may amount to quantities of 10 % in extreme cases (carbon black). These quantities refer to 100 weight % of pigment.
Processing
- In order to achieve the required wetting effect please make sure that Deuteron® ND 210 is added before the dispersion process.
