Features & Benefits
- Product Highlights
- Trapylen® 112 X is a chemically modified low chlorinated polypropylene with outstanding affinity to polyolefinic plastics such as PP, PP/EPDM-blends and, with limitations to adhesion strength, to PE.
- Compared to other modified chlorinated types it has a higher molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution.

- Main Uses
- TRAPYLEN® 112 X is used either as a straight primer or as an adhesion promoter for base coats and pigmented primers.
- TRAPYLEN® 112 X principal use is in paintings/coatings for molded parts and sealing profiles in the automotive industry, such as bumpers, side panels and door seals.
- TRAPYLEN® 112 X can also be used in adhesives and flocking agents for door seals.
- TRAPYLEN® 112 X is used in industrial applications where PP based plastics are chemically pretreated.
- Applications
- Using TRAPYLEN® 112 X as a primer dilute the resin solution with xylene to 5 % solids.
- TRAPYLEN® 112 X primer can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing.
- Drying conditions: 30 s at 80 °C, residual quantity of resin about 3...4 g/m2.
- When using TRAPYLEN® 112 X as adhesion promoter in base coats/pigmented primers, the compatibility of the system must be checked.
- The resulting base coat can be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or printing if the system allows it. Drying conditions: Usually 30 min at 80 °C, residual quantity about 15 g/m2.
